What’s in a name?
US Highway 66 was constructed in 1926. The highway, which became one of the most famous roads in America, originally connected Chicago, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona before ending in Santa Monica, California. It covered a total of 2,448 miles.
Thirty years later, transportation had evolved. Engines advanced and infrastructure expanded as population numbers multiplied and consumerism grew. Legacy highway systems that once connected the US could not support the new ways of doing things, without progressing. Engineers sought out more direct routes between cities and towns. In 1953, the first major bypass of US 66 was constructed. It was called Highway 44.
Technology develops at an exciting pace. It wasn’t long ago that the possibility of owning a computer seemed distant to the average household, now practically everyone carries powerful devices around in their pockets.
The supply chain has experienced more change in the last year than in the previous five decades, but is quickly requiring a level of connectivity, speed and precision that marketplace or traditional approaches can’t deliver.
Similar to how Visa is a payments network that enables any merchant to connect to the global banking network, project44 is a single connection point that allows any shipper to connect to the global logistics network.
With deep roots spanning both domain and SaaS technology, Jett McCandless founded project44 to connect transportation networks in real-time and deliver seamless interoperability between carriers, systems and customers.
By digitizing the entire shipment lifecycle, project44 ensures access to the right information, at the right time – creating a smarter end-to-end shipping experience. Our mission is to build the only ubiquitous logistics network that every freight shipper uses to connect to every carrier in a transparent and efficient manner.
